More than two thirds of the population in emerging-market cities rely on public transport networks that are often chaotic and unpredictablepublic transport is both a lifeline and a contributor to daily uncertainty. Rumbo, our Android app available in Mexico City, Lima, and Bangkok, provides the most relevant, real-time information, to ensure commuters can prepare and plan for their public transport experience, and ultimately, get where they need to go.
Responsibilities:
- Translate product roadmap features into well-defined feature requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.
- Collaborate with all members of a cross-functional squad, including Engineering, Design amp; Data Insights, to ensure the app is being built according to the product roadmap and customer requirements.
- Guide your squad to define clear sprint goals amp; objectives, plus actively participate in important squad-specific ceremonies, including: planning, processing, demos amp; retros.
- Prioritise and manage the squad backlog, ensuring that the most important features are being developed and delivered. You’re constantly interrogating why something is important.
- Demonstrate user empathy, act as an advocate for users to your squad mates amp; colleagues - clearly articulating how your solutions will deliver tangible solutions and value to users.
- Define amp; track success metrics for features your squad will deliver - think critically amp; creatively to overcome data gathering challenges - and regularly report your findings to your squad amp; to other stakeholders.
- Regularly communicate progress against your roadmap to stakeholders, ensure feature demos are presented internally, and (where required) to customers, early and often.
- Serve as a thought partner, collaborator, and guide to other cross-functional squads - you’re comfortable working with a variety of other functions such as: Product Management, Customer Experience, Growth amp; Product Marketing.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role - while not a must, ideally you’ve already worked as part of a Product team with a focus on mobile consumer apps.
- Strong understanding of mobile app development methodologies, such as Agile.
- Excellent interpersonal skills - you are adept at bringing people together.
- Possess a varied communication toolkit, delivering clear, well-structured insights amp; choosing the right medium for your audience.
- Aptitude and interest in gathering and analysing customer feedback and market trends.
- You are customer-focused - you consistently demonstrate customer empathy and help others to understand customer needs
- Critical thinking, strong problem-solving and deliberate decision-making skills.
- Experience working with a remote team. You are comfortable working asynchronously at times and can build relationships with people you haven’t met in person.
- A strong bias to action. You work with autonomy, share work often, and know when to ask for guidance or support.
- Extreme curiosity, you want to understand a problem or perspective and collaborate to find a neat solution.
Bonus if you have:
- Experience working on the technical side of product development - experience with engineering, mobile dev or in a team using Flutter are a big plus.
- Experience travelling in emerging markets, even better if you’ve used public transport in the majority world.
- A good understanding how informal and formal modes of transport work
