Job Description

Summary:

The Head of Technology is responsible for strategic, operational and tactical aspects relating to the technological environment for the entire group. All aspects of the job specification apply to all jurisdictions that the group operates either directly or indirectly.

Job Description:

  • Provide leadership, vision, and management to the Technology department.
  • Work with the senior management and directors to assess and respond to Technology needs.
  • Manage Technology staff in the department.
  • Hold departmental meetings to review strategic goals and initiatives, promote team building and work to provide growth paths for staff.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, conduct performance appraisals, and delegate work assignments for all Technology personnel.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and providing appropriate training for Technology staff.
  • Serve on planning and policy-making committees.
  • Oversee the development, design, and implementation of new technologies, applications and changes / upgrades to the environment and/or existing systems and software packages.
  • Responsible for the acquisition, inventorying, and disposition of hardware and software.
  • Serve as primary contact with approved and identified vendors in the generation of RFPs, bids, contracts, agreements, and other major vendor interactions, Systems Operations and Maintenance.
  • Maintain the integrity and continual operation of the IT operating environment as per internal agreed SLA.
  • Ensure the continual functioning of mission critical operations.
  • Maintain security and privacy of the information systems, communication lines, and equipment.
  • Develop, review, and certify all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.
  • Work with the management team to provide strategic lead on technology, analysing and prioritising developments, outlining opportunities and ensuring a pro-active and innovative approach to our work.
  • Accountable for the delivery of all technology related to infrastructure and applications and ongoing enhancements.
  • As senior head of technology, provide technical leadership for the organisation as a whole.
  • Development of a cross-global technology strategy in line with corporate aspirations.
  • Continue strategic approach, innovation and best practices in the use of technology.
  • Make decisions on short and long term uses of technology within the development/product roadmap in consultation with the management team.
  • Work with the management team to ensure market leading technology and tools for digital engagement to deliver first class content and interaction online.
  • Lead and manage technical team with clear structure and processes for the department.
  • Manage development plans, business proposals, budgets, delivery time estimates and meeting those time estimates.
  • Utilise project management methodology to enhance business communication and to provide user scenarios for developments.
  • Oversee out-sourced software development relationships, development and delivery.
  • Work with other departments within our organisation to get maximum return.

Job Specification

  • 15-20 years’ experience managing a Technology Department.
  • Workflow Design experience.
  • Solid hands-on experience on Datacenter Management, Network and security operations, applications management and support, working within a hybrid and a cloud based environment.
  • Must have run some major process re-engineering project experience.
  • Strong understanding of the business environment and experience gained in the following areas:
    • Core operating infrastructure and applications
    • Core communication infrastructure and applications
    • Core network infrastructure and applications
    • Data management including the databases and the storage of data
    • Business intelligence infrastructure and applications
    • Business reporting tools
    • Project planning, management and implementation
    • Digital Journey including the planning, migration, implementation and overall infrastructure maintenance in close consultation with the Executive
    • Ensuring that Oasis IT is able to respond to business disruptions in accordance with best practices
