Job Description

Dentons is currently recruiting an Interim DevOps Administrator to support the delivery of a significant Global Finance Transformation (GFT) Program. The key objective of the role is to deliver and maintain the DevOps tools (notably Azure DevOps) and processes to support to the Program team. Additionally, the role will support the PMO by leading on various program management activities including the production of DevOps reporting metrics to measure performance and progress.

This position will be part of the Technical Program Office and will report to the Global Implementation Technical Project Manager. They will work closely alongside all of the key internal stakeholders and team members in the Program team including both internal Dentons teams and suppliers. In particular this role will work very closely with the DevOps Engineers and work stream project managers to ensure that the DevOps processes and toolchain are supporting the Program needs and that the platform administration, monitoring and reporting requirements are in place and being delivered. The role will also interface regularly with the Regional Finance Transformation Project teams to ensure that Global and Regional Implementation objectives remain aligned.

The Interim Global Finance Transformation DevOps Administrator will likely have experience in either a business-facing systems super-user / administration role or as a technology focussed project administrator. The common thread will be the ability to crossover and translate between business and project requirements and the hands-on management of the technical tooling to support the smooth running of the Program. The role holder will support and advise both business and technical colleagues to ensure that the DevOps tools and processes are maintained and are being used effectively. They will support the DevOps Engineers during the design and delivery of the DevOps processes and pipelines and they will ensure that processes are documented and that the Program teams are supported and are effectively using the tools and following the processes. As part of the Technical Program Office the role holder will be responsible for the design and management of the DevOps process dashboards and delivery of the Program level reporting and analytics relating to the SDLC and other DevOps processes. Additionally they will be expected to keep the GFT Program Leadership appraised of any foreseeable risks and issues that might arise.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Administration

  • Administer the DevOps platforms (notably the Azure DevOps platform) liaising with all teams within the global and regional Program.
  • Own the overall configuration of the DevOps toolchain, working with the DevOps engineer and IT teams to ensure that the systems are aligned to the requirements of the Program.
  • Manage all aspects of user provisioning and account management for the DevOps platforms including ensuring that license counts are understood, and that users are appropriately onboarded.
  • Advising and training users of the Azure DevOps platform on its setup and how best to exploit its potential.
  • Coordinating with technical colleagues to monitor tool backup, availability and performance and plan tool capacity and scaling needs.
  • Coordinate changes within the DevOps platforms liaising closely with functional, development, testing and operational teams.
  • Manage and track DevOps tool incidents and problems raised by the Program team. Respond to requests, troubleshoot issues and identify and advice on solutions to support the team.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to the appropriate internal or external teams.
  • Ensure that the Program and project level reporting requirements can be met by the DevOps tools and that the necessary analytics relating to the DevOps processes are being produced to support the management teams.
  • Work with program leads and technical project managers to maintain project management collateral e.g., project plans, RAID logs
  • Support project managers and team members task visibility using look ahead reports / in flight tasks and delayed tasks ensuring tight plan management
  • Work with and coach team members on DevOps Project Delivery methodologies to maximise program success.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshop as required to ensure DevOps process and tools adoption and to meet delivery milestones
  • Work closely with work stream leads and project managers to ensure that the DevOps tools and processes are fit for purpose at all times
  • Support the DevOps Engineers to design the DevOps processes and automation pipelines
  • Design processes and define tool configuration to meet the requirements of the DevOps processes
  • Ensure that processes and the system/tools usage are documented and that team members are aware of processes and have been trained to use the tools effectively.
  • Fulfil the role of tools expert and coach to assist team members. Act as a technical tools expert and support team members to adopt and effectively use the DevOps tools.
  • Ensure that the DevOps reporting and measurement requirements have been documented and agreed and ensure that these requirements are being met by the tools.
  • Work with the Global Implementation Technical Project Manager, technical and functional leads and Global PMO to manage and execute the various Stage Gate ceremonies
  • Ensure the appropriate DevOps collateral is produced to evidence achievement of various stage gate criteria

About You

Business international level of English both written and oral;

  • Highly collaborative and able to work in a global environment, accommodating the different time zones. Only team players will be considered;

Strong stakeholder management and a proven ability to work alongside both functional and technical colleagues and provide a service that can be adapted to work with different audiences will be essential

Previous experience in technical project administrator or tools/systems administration roles will be preferable

Knowledge and experience of Agile/Scrum and/or DevOps processes and delivery frameworks as well as genuine interest in these areas will be essential

Experience of DevOps tools will be important. Notably this includes Azure DevOps (Boards, Pipeline, Test Plans) but others will also be of interest

Although not essential, experience working with MS Azure tools supporting infrastructure, environment and monitoring areas is desirable.

Knowledge of code repository management, DevOps CI/CD or process automation experience would be preferred. As would experience working with related scripting languages such as YAML, Python etc.

Previous experience working as a team member of global finance / business transformation programs will be desirable

  • You will be able to demonstrate understanding of working within program governance frameworks and to documented delivery principles

Essential Qualifications / Experience

  • Post-secondary education with a specialization in Information Technology.
  • Minimum of 3 years progressive experience in systems orientated or technical project administration role using a broad spectrum of technologies.
  • Experience of working on international business or technical transformation projects (desirable)
  • Agile / DevOps / Scrum (desirable)
