Job Description
Dentons is currently recruiting an Interim Global Finance Database Architect; to support the implementation of a significant global Finance transformation program. This position will be reporting into the Global Cloud Architect. Across the program the Interim Global Finance Database Architect’s will interface with key stakeholders and teams to ensure successful implementation of this program; delivering business benefits identified in the business case, within agreed budget and program implementation timeframes.
The Interim Global Database Finance Architect’s primary responsibility is building Dentons’ global transformation initiatives. Working alongside Business Technology team members (global and regional) and transformation project teams, the Cloud Engineer is accountable for the delivery of cloud based database infrastructure to meet all project requirements.
The Database Architect has experience in working cloud environments within an agile framework. This includes knowledge of Microsoft SQL, Azure SQL, Azure SQL Managed instances, Azure Data Factory, Azure monitor and storage accounts. The architect should also be an expert with supporting Azure Database Warehouses, Data Lakes, and Analysis Services, alongside integration into reporting platforms such as Power BI. Working alongside other team members, the individual will be responsible for helping to ensure global database environments are designed, deployed, and operated according to industry and platform best practices. Working closely with the Interim Global Cloud Architect, and other technology and transformation project team members, the individual will participate in the development of global platforms to meet business requirements. Ensuring that database platforms are resilient, secure, cost effective, and perform well are critical to the success of the architect.
The individual is also responsible for collaborating closely with all Dentons regions with an objective of ensuring the successful technical integration and continued alignment with evolving Firm standards.
The Finance Transformation program is a truly global program designed to transform Dentons' finance function into the business partnering function of the future. It will build the business by offering true business insight, efficient and effective processes while maintaining the necessary compliance and controls.
As a polycentric organization Dentons requires this role to drive the development of globally harmonized technical designs through leading a team of Global Technical roles and working with the regional subject matter experts and regional leadership, and then subsequently to support regional alignment and adoption.

Key Deliverables
- Architecture and design of database platforms to deliver transformation and integration initiatives.
- Development and ongoing management of database related budgets specific to platforms.
- Coordination of activities to ensure on time and on budget delivery of database platforms
- Effective and timely status reports to Business Technology and transformation team leadership.
- Maintain knowledge of Dentons’ strategic business objectives to help ensure that database designs are aligned with overarching firm objectives.
- Work alongside transformation project teams, vendors, and Dentons experts to develop and document innovative platform architectures.
- Challenge the status-quo to help develop innovative approaches to systems delivery. Think out of the box, and challenge others (vendors and team members) to do the same to come up with the best solutions.
