Overview: Global Citizen is looking to hire a freelance video editor to support our Africa-based team. This is a contract role, to be based in Johannesburg, South Africa. This position is full-time remote for now, which may change depending on COVID-19 restrictions and protocols.
In this role, you’ll shape all manner of compelling videos including:
Social-first short-form stories for Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok
Short-to-mid-form Youtube explainers.
Policy, Internal, and Partner videos.
Recap and Sizzle videos for event-based productions The ideal candidate is up to date on current events, pop culture, social media, and has a great understanding of editing techniques, workflow, and visual storytelling. You will also be a self-starter, responsive to feedback, and pay strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
Working with the GC Africa (South Africa + Nigeria) team, monitor news and come up with editorial angles that fit Global Citizen’s messaging
Compose short-form video scripts for digestible, text on screen video content.
Download footage, cut videos for multiple social media platforms.
Ensure editorial standards are upheld, demands from across company platforms are addressed.
Work closely with stakeholders in South Africa and Nigeria offices to create marketing and campaign videos as needed.
Requirements
Experience
Proven experience with Adobe Premiere Pro.
Strong writing skills for short-from, text on screen video scripts.
At least 2+ years of video editing experience for digital and social platforms.
Familiarity with Photoshop amp; After Effects is a Plus.
Interest in, and respect toward, a variety of cultural practices and backgrounds.
Interest in pop culture / social media trends.
Attributes:
Be comfortable working on tight deadlines with a large volume of deliverables.
Willingness to respond positively to constructive feedback.
Ability to pivot to and from different assignments while keeping everything organized.
