Role Description
The Data Protection Lawyer will help manage and implement organizational data protection and oversee their Protection of Personal Information (POPI)/ General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance. Drive execution and monitoring of the GDPR compliance program for the Company
Requirements
Accountabilities
- Conduct regular audits across the company, suppliers etc to ensure compliance and advice on remediation and potential issues
- Inform and advise the company and employees who carry out processing, of their obligations required by authorities
- Act as the point of contact between the company and any Data Protection (DPA) or Supervisory Authorities
- Continuous engagement with all parties to ensure successful implementation of compliance initiatives
- Monitor, maintain, and review records of all data processing activities conducted by the company.
- Provide advice about data protection impact assessments and monitor any high-risk processing
Qualifications, experience and skills
- LLB Degree
- 2-4 years' experience in similar capacity
- 2 years' experience working with POPI and GDPR legislation
- Experience in dealing successfully with different business cultures and industries
- Demonstrated self-starter with ability to gain required knowledge in dynamic environments
- Demonstrated relationship building skills
- Demonstrated communication skills to speak with a wide-ranging audience, from the Partners and managers to data subjects
