Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced digital education media manager to join our Cape Town production team in a senior management role. You will be second in command to the Head of Production, and supported by a lead layer including a Creative Director and Post-Production Manager (latter to be filled).
This position will be responsible for the effective running of Construct Education’s media production team, with a strong focus on driving high quality innovative content, culture and people management and process optimization. This role would be well suited to someone familiar with the online education landscape, and must have an in-depth knowledge of pre-through-post production workflows.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for Media Production on Projects
- Work with a well established team of digital creatives including producers, designers, editors and animators to develop world-leading educational content
- Lead on the pre-production and production aspects of projects in collaboration with a team of video producers, continuously improving processes
- Work with our Creative Director to ensure we continue to exceed client expectations and lead in our space globally
- Support on-site filming at top universities and corporations globally
- Ensure all projects are delivered on budget and according to an agreed timeline, managing changes with grace, good humour and occasionally a firm boundary
- Become familiar with GenAI technologies and ensure the team are using the appropriate technology to improve efficiency and productivity
- Proactively lean into any project issues that are developing and take responsibility for finding resolutions
- Be the expert in the room on client calls, projecting a strong executive presence, high level of competency and professionalism
- Overall Team Management (in conjunction with Line Managers)
- Drive the culture of the team, set and drive expectations, arrange team meetings and coordinate wellbeing events
- Serve as the decision maker on how best to grow and prepare the team for current work and skills that are cutting-edge, including professional development opportunities
- Ensure the team are set up for success, that they know what they need to achieve and have the support needed, ensuring performance reviews are completed and effective
- Work with the HR team to support people to implement performance processes for instances where performance standards are not being achieved
- In collaboration with the Head of Production, participate in recruiting new team members - ensuring they fit your team’s needs, are a good culture fit and are appropriately onboarded
- Ensuring the Induction and integration of team members into Construct culture, values and ethos
- Work closely with other departments to coordinate tasks in a way that ensures client satisfaction
- Production Team Utilization
- Have a high level understanding of the projects that are in flight, those that are in the pipeline and those that are imminent and work with the resource manager to ensure we have the right people on the right projects at the right time
- Using the appropriate people data made available to you, ensure a timeous communication of needs to relevant stakeholders
- Collaborate with the sales team to ensure understanding of workflows and resource utilisation
Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in an education or similar industry
- At least 5 years experience line managing a team
- At least 5 years experience in a media production related role
- Professional qualification desired but not required, technical and leadership skills will be primary
- Proven track record for developing a strong committed, inclusive team culture
