Hire Resolve's client, a leading manufacturing company based in Durban, is seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator to join their team in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
As a SQL Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company's SQL databases, ensuring they are highly available, secure, and perform at optimal levels. You will work closely with the IT team to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues and collaborate with developers to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.
Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor the company's SQL databases for optimal performance and availability
- Create and implement database security measures to protect sensitive data
- Optimize database queries and indexes to improve performance
- Perform regular database backups and ensure data integrity
- Monitor database capacity and plan for future growth
- Collaborate with development teams to implement efficient data storage and retrieval strategies
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues
- Document database configurations, procedures, and guidelines
- Stay up to date with the latest database technologies and best practices
Requirements
- 5+ years experience as a SQL Database Administrator
- Experience with relational databases, specifically MS SQL Server
- Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL
- Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently or as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience in the manufacturing industry is a plus
