Job Description

RPO Recruitment is currently seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our client's team in Johannesburg. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the company's data infrastructure and pipelines. You will work closely with data scientists and analysts to ensure efficient data flow and storage. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our client's data ecosystem.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure
  • Ensure data quality and reliability
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval for performance and cost efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve data-related issues
  • Implement and enforce data governance and security policies
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and latest trends in data engineering

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or post-graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • 5-10 years experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
  • Understanding in designing and developing data warehouses according to the Kimball methodology
  • Adept at design and development of ETL processes. SQL development experience, preferably SAS data studio and AWS experience
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python
  • The ability to ingest/output CSV, JSON and other flat file types and any related data sources
  • Experience within Retail, Financial Services and Logistics environments
  • Expertise in SQL and database management systems
  • Data Architecture, Data Modelling and Data Pipelining
  • Ensure data governance and data quality assurance standards are upheld
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Time management
  • Have the ability to learn and conduct research
