Floor planners play a pivotal role in the success of any business that has its roots in the retail industry. At DotActiv, these planners help us to create data-driven floor plans that refer to the layout and adjacencies of a retailer's departments and product categories on their store floor. The creation of effective retail floor plans involves considering the store size and category roles along with sales and shopper data to determine how to place products in such a way so as to bring the retailer’s strategies to life.

With a starting cost to company of between R12 000 - R20 000, we’re searching for candidates who value strategic planning, customer satisfaction and working in an innovative environment. Is that you?

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THIS JOB

expect from this position.

AS A FLOOR PLANNER WORKING AT DOTACTIV, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Designing data-driven floor plans;
  • Planning and building data-driven floor plans;
  • Conducting floor plan analytical reviews;
  • Creating and presenting floor plan reports;
  • Having an understanding of the macro space process and following industry best-practice
  • Analysing the floor plan and delivering strategic insights to clients;
  • Assisting clients with finalising a floor plan that is in line with the company strategy as well as the category role;
  • Working with space planners to ensure that the planograms are assigned to the store based on the created floor plan, obtain category-based insights and receive new and reviewed planograms.
  • Working with space planners to ensure that space assigned on the floor plan is sufficient enough for each category to which it is assigned.

You’ll have access to DotActiv’s all-in-one category management software to complete all of the above.

Requirements

In our quest to find the right candidate to fill the pivotal role of a Floor Planner, we need to ensure that they have the required skills to perform the job. We have broken the required skills into three parts: Education Skills, Knowledge and Computer Skills and Soft Skills

EDUCATION SKILLS

  • A Consumer Science, BCom degree or a similar degree at a recognised and accredited university;
  • Must be proficient in English (you must be able to speak, read and write at a business proficiency level); and
  • While not required, 1 to 2 years of experience in a retail environment is advantageous.

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPUTER SKILLS

  • General retail business knowledge within a retail environment;
  • Understand the principles of category management (beneficial);
  • Understand the principles of floor planning (beneficial);
  • Understand the process of space planning and how this connects to floor space optimisation (beneficial);
  • Computer literate with special attention to:
  • Intermediate MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Google G-Suite/Google Docs for business;
  • Understand the computer packages and systems currently used by DotActiv and customers (training will be provided)

SOFT SKILLS

  • You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Must have strong analytical skills and be able to use data analysis techniques and how to apply these to business situations
  • You must have excellent interpersonal skills;
  • You must have a high capacity to represent the DotActiv brand as a specialist;
  • You must have a high degree of internal client engagement;
  • You must have the ability to multitask and work cross-functionally;
  • You must be able to remain attentive in an often busy environment;
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency
  • Must be adaptable to change as different product categories present different challenges and opportunities
