SOFTWARE ENGINEER, CORE SERVICE

We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our Core Services team. This team is responsible for the robust and scalable solutions that power internal operations at UrbanStems. Our ideal candidate will be at ease working cross-functionally with multiple teams throughout the organization and will sit on a small but dynamic engineering team that allows you to actively see the impact of your work each day.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with a remote-first team of on-shore and off-shore engineers solving back-of-house ecommerce problems around perishable SCM, finance, fulfillment, and distribution
• Contribute resilient, observable, scalable, and empathetic code solutions
• Provide engineering requirements analysis working in cross-functional teams
• Ensure that software delivered is compliant with data privacy, security, and other regulatory requirements
• Contribute to team growth through code reviews, peer debugging sessions, demos, and by refining guidelines and best practices for how we work

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• Advanced verbal and written English
• At least 3 years working in software engineering, and at least 1 year working in backend systems for customer facing technology.
• Fluency in with Node.js, Typescript, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB
• Experience in building distributed systems for scale and deploying them in the cloud (AWS services such as Lambda, SNS, SQS, S3, and Kinesis or equivalents is a plus)
• Able to have working hours in US time zones (UST-4 to UST -7)

• Strong ability to communicate effectively in English across technical and non-technical teams
• Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to shift gears quickly and effectively
• We’re a small, lean team; a desire to take ownership of tasks and projects is a must
